Department history

The chair of «Economic Theory» has a solid history, which rightly should start with the opening of the Kazakh Chemical and Technological Institute in 1943. The original name of the chair «Political Economy» well matched the nature of the planned economy, However, market reforms and reorganization of universities logically led to the change of the name of the chair to «Economic theory».

The activity of our chair reflects the glorious way of formation of the Kazakhstan system of education and science and is focused on the training and education of modern specialists in all areas of training in M. Auezov SKSU, shaping their creative thinking, competitive skills and ability to make optimal decisions, so necessary for the self-realization of graduates in the business environment.

The names of our scientists and teachers, such as Junusbayev M.D., Li CH.H., Detkovskaya E.S., Shim A.Ya., Myrzabekova Z.M., Raiymkululy S., Aueshova K.P. and others, are inscribed in golden letters that have created a scientific and methodological framework that exemplifies the continuity of generations and dedication and has left a rich legacy.

At various times, the chair was headed by: Nurasheva K.K., Nazarbekova D.B., Raiymkululy S., Utemisova G.T., Sherstuk V.Yu., Rakhmetulina J.B., Urazbayeva G. Zh., Seiytbekova S.T., and Mergenbayeva A.T. currently head of the chair.

The professorship of the chair investigates the state budget theme of research: «Scientific bases of increasing the sustainability of the regional economy under digital transformation», the result of the research is the annual publication of more than 150 scientific articles in foreign rating publications with impact factor, in journals of far and near abroad, in republican rating publications, in various editions of international, republican and regional conferences of Kazakhstan.

A striking example of high scientific potential is the work of the scientists of the chair, in scientific projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, aimed at developing prospects for the development of the economy of Kazakhstan and the region. The results of research work were embodied in candidate and master’s theses Kozhamkulova I.E., Zhumanova G.M., Maulenberdieva G.A., in the publications of monographs Mergenbaeva A.T., Sherstuk V.Y., Urazbayeva A.G., Abishova A.U.

The professionalism of the teaching staff reflects the high level of educational and methodical work of the chair, developed more than 500 methodical manuals for conducting lecture and seminar classes, business games and cases, information and multimedia means of training. Since 2007, according to the phased implementation of the culture project «Trinity of languages» the chair conducts classes in English. The leading teachers in polylingual groups are candidates of economic sciences, associate professors: Sherstuk V.Yu., Urazbayeva G.Zh., Abishova A.U., Utemisova G.T.

In order to motivate and increase interest in solving the economic problems of the republic and the region, an annual subject Olympiad on «Economic Theory» is held among students and schoolchildren devoted to the current economic situation in the country, economic policy of the state in the context of the new political course of Kazakhstan, as well as significant events.

Since 2021, the chair has been preparing for one of the most prestigious and sought-after educational programs of the Master Degree MBA on EP 7M04171 - «Business administration» and EMBA on EP 7M04173 - «Business administration». Graduates of these programs have already managed to prove themselves as managers of a new - market formation, highly qualified specialists of management, local government and self-government, which have special professional and organizational qualifications. The educational process involves representatives of business structures and government bodies, heads of ministries, chairs, scientists, leading teachers of other universities, business representatives and foreign specialists.

Educational and methodical work

Educational and methodological work of the Department

The educational and methodological work of the Department for the 2020-2021 academic year was carried out in accordance with the current academic year of the Higher School and the individual plan of teachers, the work plan of the department, the strategic plan of the Department. All disciplines of the department are 100% fully covered by curricula and working curricula (syllabus), methodological literature. According to the elective component, the programs of disciplines are compiled (EMP). There are security cards for all disciplines, which are constantly updated with new literature, as well as works of teachers, domestic and foreign publications. All subjects were introduced in the state and Russian languages. On the portal of the educational institution for students in the autumn and spring semesters are fully included.
The plan for publishing educational and methodological literature at the department in the 2020-2021 academic year was created in order to ensure the coverage of specific disciplines by types of training in the educational program and updated content.
The number of methodological instructions and cases is multiplied compared to the previous academic year. The reason is associated with the addition of new basic disciplines" Entrepreneurship"," fundamentals of entrepreneurial skills". In the educational process, the coverage of methodological instructions in Kazakh and English in the total number of subjects in the working curriculum increased by 100%. The coverage of methodological recommendations on SIS in the disciplines taught at the department increased from 90% to 100% compared to the previous year.
According to the plan, no electronic educational publications are planned.In the coming academic year, there is a need to create electronic educational publications. Because distance learning is caused by the need.
On the YouTube channel of the associate professor of the Department V. Yu.Sherstyuk, video lectures on the discipline" Microeconomics "on the 7th topic" Monopoly "and the 10th topic" risk and non-profitability", and on the discipline" Macroeconomics "on the 8th topic" model IS-LM " are presented. Teachers of the department are also preparing video lectures.

In the educational process, all teachers use innovative educational technologies, All POCs were posted on the University's educational portal. The provision is higher than in the previous academic year.

In the reporting year, 3 open practical classes at the department were planned and carried out on time. Open lessons:

1.candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Utemisova G. T. on the discipline"commercialization and business planning" on 29.10.2023 at 14.00 in the online form EF-17-1tr1 group held a practical lesson on the topic "methods of determining the effectiveness of investment projects".The teacher always drew the attention of students to the topic of the lesson and directed them to continuous work. Utemisova G. T. was performed in the place of communication with the audience, communication, culture of speech, manner of speech, tone of voice.including interactive learning technologies, project-based learning technologies and Computer (Information) Technologies.

The teaching staff pays great attention to multimedia educational resources. Throughout the year, teachers and students used an electronic library, encyclopedias, catalogs of modern educational programs and electronic textbooks developed in the form of a training course with test tasks. These resources expand teacher lecture materials and are an additional multimedia tool for students.

Classes show presentations with the help of an interactive whiteboard, describing the features of the economic system at different periods, discussing specific economic phenomena with students, analyzing practical situations.

In the 2022-2023 academic year, the teaching staff was developed and approved. The curricula are discussed at the meeting of the Department, agreed with the deans of the faculty and higher schools and approved by the vice-rector. Based on this training program, syllabuses were prepared. The educational and methodological complex of the discipline in Russian, Kazakh and English for each subject was supplemented with questions for current, boundary and final observations, as well as handouts (in the form of tests, business Games, reports) and used in the educational process. At the same time, information on each subject was supplemented and updated with a map of methodological support for the necessary literature available in the educational center.

Teachers of the Department actively worked on the introduction of visual aids in the organization and conduct of the educational process. During the year, teachers prepared presentations for all subjects.

2.candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Sherstyuk V. Yu.on the discipline "Macroeconomics" on 09.03.2023 H. At 14.00, in the online form of the EF-20-5pstob, a practical lesson was held on the topic:"growth and proposal on the market". The teacher conducted the lesson in accordance with the requirements of the University. The students ' interest in the topic was increased by using active methods in the lesson.

3.candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor A. T. Mergenbaeva on the discipline "fundamentals of Economics" on 28.04.2023 at the hour. At 11.45, an open practical lesson was held online in the Yum-20-1K3 group. The lesson was held in the form of questions and answers, role-playing games. During the lesson, the teacher was able to arouse the interest of students in his degree, using new methods and techniques in education. The teacher's communication with the audience, communication, and speech culture meet the requirements. In general, the lesson was held in its own degree in accordance with the requirements for higher educational institutions. The open lesson was held in a very interesting and informative direction. There was an active close relationship with the students.There is a video recording.

Teachers who conducted an open lesson are presented with written comments and a competition paper. Open classes held according to the plan were held at a high level, in accordance with the requirements of higher educational institutions.

In the course of open classes, pedagogical technologies were used, the most innovative methods were carried out. During the lesson, the teachers made the most extensive use of modern new types of information, as evidenced by the fact that they conveyed the text and essence of the lesson in a very easy and understandable language and in combination with modern problems and innovations in the field of Economics.

Specialists attend classes of qualified teachers with many years of experience, learn methods of teaching from them, as well as professors, senior teachers attend classes of young teachers and share advice on how to notice their shortcomings and correct them. Therefore, such attendance helps to increase the pedagogical professional experience of teachers.

According to the Plan, 9 meetings of the scientific and methodological seminar were held at the Department. Scientific and methodological seminars discuss issues of a methodological nature and topical topics aimed at improving the effectiveness of the use of modern technologies in the educational process.

Seminars are devoted to explaining the methodology for conducting lectures and seminars, conducting video lectures, developing level tests, as well as solving organizational issues of SRS and SRS, rules for the development of educational materials on electronic media, rules for the development of textbooks, manuals, electronic textbooks, etc.
