At the moment, the department is headed by a graduate of KAZKHTI – Candidate of Economic Sciences, associate professor Aidarov Tofik Agha-Balaevich.
The department prepares bachelors in three educational programs - 6B04120 "Management", 6B041650 "State and Local Government", 6B04160 "Marketing", as well as two master's programs – 7M04120 "Management", 7M04160 "Marketing".
Each of the departments included in the new team has its own vivid history.
One of the first departments at the Faculty of Engineering and Economics was the Department of Economics and Entrepreneurship, which is the ancestor of the current Department of Marketing.
Since 1996, the department began to train personnel in parallel in a new specialty for the market economy, "Marketing", the opening of which was dictated by the requirements of the external environment and, accordingly, the department in 2003 received the name of the specialty of the same name. The Department of Marketing was headed at various times by Candidate of Economic Sciences M.U. Beisenova, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Kydyrova E.E. Baymukhanbetova Zh.Sh .
The Department of Management was established in 1996 on the basis of the Department of Economics, Organization and Production Planning. In 2000, the department became part of the Faculty of Economics. With the increase in the staff of the joint department and the transition to credit technology of education, it was decided to divide it. In June 2004, based on the decision of the Academic Council of the University, the Department of Management began to function as an independent department.
Since 2000, the department has been headed by: Doctor of Economics, Professor Niyazbekova R.K., Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor Kuttybaeva D.A., Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor Kolotaeva L.P., Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor Ilasheva S.A., Doctor of Economics, Professor Kuralbayeva A.Sh ., Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Satymbekova K.B.
The department employs holders of a state grant and the title of "Best University Teacher" of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan M.K. Seydakhmetov (2013), Zh.Sh . Kydyrova (2015).
In 2015, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor M.K. Seydakhmetov was awarded the badge for achievements in the field of science of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Gylymdy damytuga sinirgen yenbegi ushin", and Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Kydyrova Z.Sh He was awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Science and Education of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences". The scientific achievements of the faculty of the department over the past 5 years are quite high, more than 40 textbooks and monographs have been published, more than 25 articles have been published in journals with an impact factor, more than 50 articles in journals recommended by the KKSON of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, more than 250 articles in collections of international conferences of the far and near abroad.
Based on a consortium agreement between CIS universities, since 2009 the department has been involved in the implementation of master's degree programs in the specialty "Management" with specializations "Project Management" and "International Management". To date, 25 undergraduates have been trained in this program at RUDN and NSU.
Within the framework of scientific cooperation, the Department of Management and Marketing maintains contacts and cooperates with the following universities:

The Department annually participates in the competition of scientific projects through the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and in the competition announced by the Department of Agriculture of the Turkestan region
The department has a strategic management system - on average, more than 30% of the total student body is actively working in its composition. Students participate in various conferences, competitions and Olympiads.
According to the results of the activities evaluated by the university as a whole for the 2013-2014 and 2015-2016 academic years, the department became the winner in the nomination "The best department of the M. Auezov South Ural State University".
As part of the “April-Month of Science”, dedicated to the “Day of Science Workers” in the reading room of the main building The Educational Information Center held a “Parade of Books” for technical, as well as legal and economic specialties, an exhibition of new books received by the library over the past three years was presented, and an introduction to the electronic resources of the ЕIC was presented.

Every year, online international scientific conferences are held, in which students and teachers of the department and the teaching staff actively participate.
Every year, professors from leading foreign universities are invited to give lectures and conduct master classes. Visiting Professor of the Pittsburgh State University Chong Lee (USA) gave a course of lectures on the disciplines "Economics", "Management". Students of the EF-21-4r group together with teachers - Temiri M. and Mustafayeva V. of the Department of Management and Marketing, visited the historical and cultural complex "Shym Kala".
In March 2021, a historical and cultural complex was created, and on April 14 this institution passed state registration under the name "Shym Kala" or unofficially "Kamal", which means "Fortress". As an archaeological site, the Shymkent settlement is an original. The creators of the complex tried to embody the historical design and architecture of the citadel. The original layout of various buildings, the fortification system, which was one of the necessary conditions for the development and maintenance of trade relations, have been preserved. The southern and western defensive walls were also explored. The builders reproduced the data obtained by the method of laying two parallel walls, spaced from each other at a distance of 0.8 to one meter, the space between which is filled with loose loam and construction debris. Round towers are erected along the walls.
For the purpose of lecturing and conducting seminars, scientific consultations, master classes for students invited E.V.
